Harry T. Levin '33, professor of English, has been appointed chairman of the Division of Modern Languages, President Conant announced at a Faculty meeting Wednesday.
Levin, who will take office July 1, succeeds George W. Sherburn, professor of English. The post is occupied by various members of the division faculty according to a rotation system.
Conant also announced the appointment of Stuart P. Atkins, associate professor of German, as acting chairman of the department of Germanic Languages and Literatures for the spring term. He will replace Taylor Stark, professor of German, who will go on sabbatical leave.
