Leverett dropped, from the undefeated class at the Indoor Athletic Building last night as Winthrop worked smoothly toward a 35 to 27 victory.
For the entire first half, the Puritans rarely lost control of the ball. Stan Greene led the team, placing shots from all corners of the floor and taking care of most rebounds. Greene totaled 18 points, and accounted for nine of the 18 scores on the board when the half closed. The Bunnies had only made six at half time.
It looked as if the game would be a rout by the Puritans until late in the second period. Then Leverett stopped fumbling and started playing ball. Personal fouls came faster, but the Bunnies were able to bring their total to 27 points.
Although the season is now well advanced, both teams showed they needed more time playing together. This holds especially for Leverett's squad, which looked confused most of the time. Even Winthrop's Greene didn't seem to be part of his team all the time.
