English 180. An Approach to Poetry. Archibald MacLeish, Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, wants to give his students "an intensive study of a limited number of texts, considered not in their historical perspective but as illustrative of the art. . . of poetry."

So many students wanted to take advantage of MacLeish's offer yesterday that they completely overflowed the Sever 2 meeting place and the corridor adjoining it. The Boylston Professor held his first lecture on the Memorial Church steps. Later he found shelter in Fogg's Large Room for his next meetings.
