The Pierian Sodality of 1808 will sponsor's a chamber music workshop this year, the society announced yesterday.
Pierian, which new sponsors the orchestra, will provide music, coaching, and a meeting place for rehearsals of the new groups. Combination as well as individual students will be accepted into the workshop.
Although its main goal is to expand student knowledge of chamber music repertoire, Pierian also plans to sponsor a few concerts during the year.
The first workshop meeting for strings will he at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Paine Music Building. Woodwinds and horns will meet a week later.
Auditions for the orchestra are being held from 7:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow in Paine, and sight-reading rehearsals are scheduled for 7:15 p.m. tonight in Sanders Theatre.
