Fischelis To Succeed Duhig As PBH Graduate Secretary

Robert L. Fischelis '49 will become Graduate Secretary of Phillips Brooks House, Harvard's social service center, and of the Dudley Commuters' Center this month. He succeeds Charles W. Duhig '29 who resigned this summer to become dean of Brandeis University.

The appointment of Fischelis marks a return to the pre-war P.B.H. policy of selecting for its secretary a recent graduate rather than an older man.

Fischelis would have entered his second year in the Law School this month, had he not assumed the P.B.H. Position. In the College Fischelis was Student Council president in his senior year. He also was a member of the P.B.H. Social Service Committee as an undergraduate. This summer Fischelis worked in Europe for the National Student Association.

Duhig will be in charge of all students at Brandeis, the three-year-old university in Waltham. During his 16 year stay at Harvard his posts included that of director of Student Employment, assistant dean, freshman adviser, and member of the Scholarship Committee.

The P.B.H. graduates secretary acts as faculty adviser to the College's 250-member social service group. This group works primarily outside the Harvard community guiding underprivileged children in both recreational and academic pursuits and also performs service functions for the University.
