NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

President Conant last night said, "The countries of the West, because they are free, will win out in any struggle with Russia. In the long run the competition of the free countries of the world and these within the orbit of the dictatorship of the proletariat must result in a victory for freedom."

Speaking before the American Council of Education at Chicago, Conant said. "I believe that with intelligence, patience, and good luck we can get thorough the balance of this century without another global war; and if we can, I have every confidence that the free peoples of the world will win the ideological struggle of our times."
