Tootell, Trimble Finish in I.C.-4A

An encounter with most of the nation's star collegiate track and field men brought the expected results on Saturday afternoon in the IC4A meet at Randall's Island. Only Don Trimble, throwing the javelin, and Captain Geoff Tootell in the discus were able to place for the Crimson as the varsity tied for 16th with four points in a field of 27.

Yale, led by Vic Frank, Jim Fuchs, and George Wade, ran away with the meet. The Elis piled up 42 points to 24 for New York University and 22 for Michigan State.

Trimble took third in the javelin with a heave of 202 feet 8 inches (his longest toss since he broke the Harvard record two years ago with a 212 foot 5 3-4 inches heave). Albright's Al Harnly took first with 207 feet 1-4 inch, and two others tossed the javelin over 200 feet.

In the discuss Tootell placed fifth with a throw of 142 feet 9 1-2 inches, 28 feet 1-2 inch short of Frank's record-breaking toss. The Crimson's Charlie Durakis qualified in the 220 low hurdles Friday, but he did not place in the finals.
