Marshall Harris pitched and batted Lionel Hall to the Yard softball championship yesterday by defeating Matthews North, 3 to 0, at Soldiers Field.
Harris held Matthews to three scattered hits and aided his cause with a two-run single in the second inning. Matthews' Billy Williamson gave up seven hits in absorbing his first loss of the season.
Dick Chamberlain, the Lionel first baseman who required hospitalizations following a seventh-inning collision with a Matthews player, contributed three singles before leaving the game.
