NEW HAVEN, May 20--Nine Crimson trackmen figured in the scoring here today as Harvard finished sixth in a field of nine in the annual spring Heptagonals.
The Elis amassed 62 5-6 points to take first; Cornell faded at the end of the meet for a 44 1-10 point second. Other finishers were Army, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Harvard, Dartmouth, Brown, and Columbia, Harvard, Dartmouth, Brown, and Columbia, Harvard scored 21 points.
Top Crimson effort came from Don Triblem, who tossed the javelin 200 feet, 3-4 inches to finish second to John Thomas of Penn. It was the first time Trimble had gone over 200 since injuring his arm in practice two years ago, after setting the Harvard record.
Dave, Carter contributed the second best broad jump of his career, but finished nine inches behind the 24 feet, 5-3 inches of Princeton's Ed Davis. Carter later won his trial heat in the 100, but was fourth in the tight finish of the final. Captain Geoff Tootell was the only other Crimson double-scorer, with a third in the discus and fourth in the shot behind the Eli muscle men. Al Wilson was fifth with the discus.
Ed Grutzner and Harvey Thayer ran fourth and fifth in the 440. Lou Tsavaris, Tom McGrath, Ronnie Berman, and Thayer won their heat in the mile relay, but were fourth on time to Yale, Penn, and Princeton.
