A moonlight cruise in Boston Bay for seniors, their families, and their friends is the "something new" that has been added to the traditional Class Week activities this year, David LaCoombs '50, chairman of the Class Day Committee, announced last night.
Coombs announced the new element while disclosing the final schedule for Class Week, which stretches this year from Baccalaureate Services on June 18 to Commencement on June 22.
Senior Spread on Monday
The year-old, all-steel excursion boat "Boston Belle" will depart from Company's Pier, Atlantic Avenue, at 8:40 p.m. June 20, chartered by the class. There will be liquor aboard, and the entire middle deck of the boat will be given over to dancing, Coombs said. The boat will dock at midnight.
The "Senior Spread," traditional formal dance and midnight supper for the class, will be held from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. on June 19 in the courtyard of Lowell House.
There will be outdoor dancing on wooden platforms in the large courtyard, as well as dancing in the dining hall. The Class Day Committee is now negotiating to procure a name band.
The formal ceremonies of the Class Week are unaltered, Coombs said. Class Day exercises, scheduled for June 20, include orations, poems, songs of the Class, and remarks by Dean Bender. Commencement is a University-wide ceremony.
The schedule of activities:
Sunday, June 18--Baccalaureate Service at 3:30 p.m. in Memorial Church. President Conant will give the sermon;
Monday, June 19--Senior Spread at 10 p.m. in Lowell House;
Tuesday, June 20--Class Day Exercises at 3 p.m. in Sever Quadrangle and Moonlight Cruise, leaving at 8:40 p.m. from Company's Pier, Atlantic Avenue, Boston;

Applications for tickets both for the social events of Class Week and for Commencement activities will be mailed in the near future to all men receiving degrees, Coombs said.
