Ballplayers Take to Road; Will Play Cadets, Quakers

After a brief stint in Cambridge, the varsity baseball team returns to the road this afternoon for its first "western" swing. The trip includes two league contests, Pennsylvania this afternoon and Army tomorrow.

Army was knocked out of the league lead last Saturday in an upset victory by Yale. It was the first league loss of the season for the Cadets, and they are currently roosting in second place. With two wins and four losses, Pennsylvania is in seventh.

Although Stuffy McInnis hadn't named his starting pitchers yesterday he'll probably start Turner in Philadelphia today and Godin at West Point tomorrow. Turner has been burdened with most of the league jobs this year, beating Navy while losing to Princeton and Cornell; Godin has one league decision, a victory over Columbia last Friday.

Cliff Crosby, who used only eight pitches to retire M.I.T. in the tenth inning Wednesday, will be available for relief duty. McInnis has been holding Crosby in reserve all season, forcing him to limit his activities to catching, but finally resorted to using him when his other relief pitchers proved ineffective.

Either Steve Brooks or Nick Nichols will oppose Turner this afternoon. Brooks, the more effective of the two, has given up a total of 16 hits in his two league decisions this season and has one win and one loss. Nichols has lost two Ivy games while winning one.

Jack Mackmull, league ace, will start against Turner. Mackmull is undefeated in league play this year, giving up only 17 hits in his three victories. Mackmull will receive strong support from his teammates at the plate as the Cadets boast three of the league's top five batters.
