Five crews will race in the inter-House finals on the Charles at 5:30 p.m. today.

Lowell, Winthrop, Adams, Eliot, and Leverett will enter boats. Kirkland, current leader in Straus Trophy competition, did not survive the semi-final heats.

A smooth-stroking 'Eliot second boat took the "Jayvee" race yesterday, beating Leverett, Lowell, and Kirkland, in that order.

The Elephants' baseball team was also victorious, edging Winthrop, 6 to 5. George Plimpton pitched Eliot to its first victory in six starts. Four Winthrop errors aided the Pachyderms. Jim Rossiter slugged out three hits, including a double, for Eliot. Herb Wilkins and Charlie Hugo got the other hits for the Elephants. Eliot stole five bases to help set up the win.

In the Yard intramural track meet Monday, Hollis' powerful squad swept to an easy triumph. Hollis had 30 points, runner-up Weld South picked up 17. Only seven teams entered the meet.

John Rooney, of Hollis, set a new meet record, winning the mile run in 5:04. Rooney tired toward the end of the race, but had enough kick left to retain a lead over George Baker, of Thayer Middle.

Hollis also took firsts in the 220 and 880, as Gene Berkun and Tom Everhart won in fair times. Jerry Blitz, of Wigglesworth, broke the string, winning the 100-yard dash in 11.2 seconds.

Winthrop beat Adams yesterday in softball, 7 to 5, while Dudley forfeited to Lowell, 9 to 0. No Dudley players appeared for the game. In tennis, Lowell topped Dunster, 5 to 2. Holworthy's softball team pounded out a 23 to 4 victory over Wigglesworth in Yard softball.
