Andover Ten Crushes Freshman Team, 12-4

With Captain Dick Gifford scoring three goals and setting up five others, Andover's lacrosse team romped to an easy 12 to 4 victory over the freshmen at Andover Saturday.

After the Blue and White had scored twice within five minutes of the opening period, Gus Palaclos shot the first Crimson goal at 8:00, converting a pass from Pete Franklin. Another Andover goal made it 3 to 1 before the period ended.

The Academy clinched the game midway in the second period, scoring three goals between 7:00 and 8:50, making the score 6 to 1. This lead was big enough to offset later goals by Norm Hatch, Franklin, and Ron Huebsch.

Another three-goal burst at the beginning of the second half iced the game for Andover, but the schoolboys added two more just before the final whistle.

Despite the high score, Big Don Stewart played well in the Yardling nets, coming up with several fine body saves. Normally a forward or defenseman, Stewart was filling in for the injured Walt Niemyski and Bob Rosenman.
