The freshman track team scored a surprisingly easy win Saturday as it beat Exeter, 88 1/3 to 37 2/3, at Exeter. During the winter season, the Yardling runners lost to the Red and Gray, 42 to 39.
Once again Captain Bob Mello was high scorer for the Crimson, winning the broad jump and pole vault, and tying for first in the high jump. Mello, who was captain of the Exeter team last year, also placed third in the javelin, giving him a total of 14 points. Bob Lown had one of his best days for the '53 squad, getting a third-place tie in the pole vault, a first-place tie in the high jump, second in the broad jump, and third in the shot put.
