Battered Yardling Lacrosse Team Travels to Face Andover Today

A veteran Andover lacrosse team will entertain the freshman ten this afternoon, as the crippled Yardlings go in search of their sixth win.

The freshmen will be hampered by the absence of both regular goalies. Bob Rosenman has been out since the Deerfield game with a bad ankle; Walt Niemyski, who played a fine game in the goal against Governor Dummer Wednesday, will also be on the shelf. Niemyski took a bad crack on the knee in the closing minutes of the Dummer game. Trainers at Dillon Field House estimated that he would be unable to play for about ten days. Don Stewart, who has been the utility man of the freshman team, will cover Niemyski's position.

On the brighter side is the return of Ron Huebsch, who played in his first game Wednesday after having been ill with the mumps for four weeks. Huebsch has played himself into condition, and is so well advanced that he will start at center midfield against Andover.

Newcomer Linn Shines

Coach Dick Whitney is also pleased with the recent play of midfielder Buddy Linn, an Andover graduate. One of the ten beginners on the team, Linn has improved so fast that Whitney will probably use him in the second midfield combination. Linn plays scrappy, aggressive lacrosse, according to Whitney, although his stickhandling still needs some polish.

Andover's team has experience and height. Every starter is a holdover from last year; most are big men. This is especially true of the midfields. Bill Watson, first team wing, is six-two and well over 190 pounds. Four of the first six midfielders weigh more than 175.

Harvard: goal, Stewart; defense, Sexton, Martin (c), and Huttenbauer; midfield, Huebsch, Wood, and Johnson; attack, Palacies, Hatch, and Franklin.

Andover: goal, Stark (c); defense, Esmiol, Wight, and Linahan; midfield, Watson, Anderson, and Tyson; attack, Gordon, Sutherland, and Gifford (c).
