Unless you have a yes for Sanskrit, better think twice before concentrating here. The department is so small that you will get a lot of attention; as a matter of fact, there were no concentrators in Indic Philology this year.
If you decide to concentrate in this field, Assistant Professor Daniel Ingalls will pilot you through Indic Literature. He takes over for Professor Walter Clark, who retires after this term.
Concentrators are encouraged to study related languages and literatures, as well as the religions and philosophy of India. Degree requirements are rather general and are based mainly on examinations.
The study of Indic. Phil. is often combined with Classics.
