'53 Ten Will Face Governors Today

The freshman lacrosse team will be in its worst physical condition of the season for today's game with Governor Dummer on the Business School Field at 3:45 p.m.

Coach Dick Whitney will be without the services of key defenseman Turk Broder, high-scoring forward Bitsy Grant, midfield mainstays Chuck Pyle and Ron Huebsch, and Bob Rosenman, first-string goalie.

Even Whitney's second stringers have been plagued by the injury jinx. George Batchelder, a replacement for Broder, will be unable to start, because of the grippe. Walt Niemyski, slated to start at goal in place of Rosenman, is fighting a bad cold, but will dress for the game.

The most serious losses are those of Broder and Grant, who will be unavailable for the rest of the year. Grant joined Broder on the permanently inactive list yesterday, when he revealed that the leg injury he received in the Deerfield game, combined with the pressure of outside employment, will force him to drop the sport.

Grant's loss will materially cut down the effectiveness of the Yardling attack. In the four games he played, Grant scored 14 goals and assisted on seven others.
