Deerfield's well-conditioned lacrosse team showed how it won the 1949 New England Scholastic Championship, trouncing the freshman squad, 16 to 2, in a game at Deerfield Saturday. Norm Hatch scored both Crimson goals.
Of more importance to the Yardlings than the lopsided score, however, was a first period injury to Bitsy Grant, leading scorer for the Crimson. Grant was hit simultaneously by three men and was carried off the field with a groin injury.
Bob Rosenman, Yardling goalie, sprained his ankle during the game, and will be sidelined for several days.
The incapacitation of Grant and Rosenman came just after X-rays revealed that midfielder Chuck Pyle suffered a chipped bone in his ankle during Wednesday's game with Tabor. He will be shelved for three weeks.
