Forty-eight seniors will be commissioned as officers in the Navy, Naval Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve in a colorful ceremony on June 21--midway in the Class Week celebration.

Although larger numbers of men have been commissioned here in past ceremonies, this year's will be the first full-scale peacetime exercise, because all of the men entered the College after V-J Day, according to Carroll T. Bonny, NROTC commanding officer.

A high-ranking naval officer will speak at the ceremony and will confer the commissions and swear in the new officers. The exercise is set for 10 a.m., June 21, in Lamont Forum Room.

Bonney said that of the 51 seniors, 18 will be commissioned ensigns in the navy and will go on active duty after a short leave. Eight others will be named ensigns in the Naval Reserve, while 22 will be commissioned second lieutenants in the Marine Corps Reserve.

The NROTC commissioned three graduates in February.
