A heavily favored varsity lacrosse team will meet Tufts at 3:45 pm. today on the Business School Field. Coach Bruce Munro is wary of his team's favorite role but hopes that because this is its last game for two weeks the Crimson "will be out to rout Tufts."
In its only game this season Tufts lost to a powerful Yale team, 14 to 4. Yale had previously shut out Penn, whom the varsity downed, 8 to 5, with 22 goals. Tufts was soundly beaten by Harvard last year, and shouldn't have brought up too much strength from a freshman team which the '52 ten trounced, 14 to 2.
Crimson Coach Bruce Munro said yesterday that he was impressed with his team's showing, "particularly morale," in its rout of the Boston Lacrosse Club Saturday. He added that he plans only two minor changes for today's lineup.
If third midfielder Ripper Lynch's case of the flu is no better today, Bob Baldwin will start in his place. Munro also expects to alternate sophomore goalie Dick Thomas with Sid Clarke.
Munro ran his squad through a two hour scrimmage yesterday, stressing clearing, passing, and playmaking. After today's game, he plans to continue these daily scrimmages in an effort "to keep up spirit and teamwork until the Springfield game a week from Saturday."
Probable varsity lineups:
Attack: Plissner, Yost, and Hudnor; Defense: Coburn, Spence, and Byrne; Midfields: Post, Davidson (Capt.), and Birdsall; Davis, Graham, and Waring; Lynch, Brooke, and Mauran; Goal: Clarke or Thomas.
Attack: Ross, Patriguin, and Duryea; Defense: Hayward, Tyler, Schneider; Midfield: Egan, Gerbis, and Bruns; Goal: Cole.
