Radcliffe Council Discusses Signature and '51 Yearbook

Signature Magazine officially fell into the receivership of the Radcliffe Student Council at yesterday's Council meeting and will publish its farewell issue under a special committee in a final effort to decrease its $600 debt.

The Council also approved a proposal for an all-college Yearbook with a self-perpetuating staff, and named the chairmen of ten committees for the coming year.

The committee responsible for directing the final edition of Signature will work with the regular board. Joan Braverman '50, ex-president of Student Government, and Sylvia Rice '50, ex-vice-president, will edit the literary material. Jean O'Brien '51, ex-treasurer, will handle business matters.

Control of Yearbook

The new Yearbook plan will also give the Council a degree of control over that publication. Editor-in-chief, managing editor, and business manager will be appointed by a committee of ten, including the present three top Yearbook officials, the outgoing senior class president, and six Council members: the president and vice-president of Student Government, and the four class presidents. Future editors will be chosen from those who have previous experience on the publication.

New appointments to committee chairmanships, pending acceptance, are: orientation, Jean O'Brien '51; publicity, Nancy Wolper '52, commuters, and Helen Kornfold '52, dorms; dorm-commuter, Barbara Pitts '52, commuters, and Judith Grose '52, dorms; appointment bureau, Margaret MacTavish '51; community service, Jane Larsen '52 and Ruth Mann '51, assistant; social, Baila Cobon '51; library, Eilon Fass '51; curricular, Carol Smith '51; Agassiz, Alice Walsh '52; and health center, Ellen Newman '51.
