Bingham Expects Better Grid Year

The Band celebrated its 30th anniversary last night at the Hotel Continental and was served some qualified optimism about next year's football team.

About 150 Band members, alumni, and guests heard William J. Bingham '16, director of athletics, declare that, "I have every reason to hope you're not going into the Stadium this year and see eight defeats."

Earlier, he had thanked the band for loyally serenading the team eight times during the past "tough season."

"We're on our way, I feel sure," Bingham said.

Coach Lloyd Jordan, who was greeted by cheers, disclosed that the new team "is making a start," and that, "We're having a lot of fun down there at practice." And Captain Phil Isenberg said he though the team has "more spirit" than before and that the freshmen "show promise."

"We've all come to respect Mr. Jordan as a coach and as a gentleman during the two and one-half weeks of practice this year," Isenberg declared.

Other speakers included Arthur Fiedler, director of the Boston Pops, Malcolm H. Helmes '28, director of the Band, and Dean Walson. Albert Moore '50 was toastmaster
