Drive-in movies, a popular pastime in some parts of the country have been refused entry in Cambridge.

The Cambridge Board of Appeal Monday turned down a petition of the Arlington-Belmont-Cambridge Realty Corporation to use a plot of land on the Concord turnpike for an outdoor theatre.

The petition met with strong opposition at a hearing held by the board last week.
