Malcolm P. McNair '16, former professor of Marketing at the Business School, was appointed the first Lincoln Filene Professor of Business Administration last Wednesday at a dinner honoring Filene.
The new professorship permits the assignment of a university scholar to research and teaching in retailing. It was established by the recent gift of $300,000 to the school by the Federated Department Stores, Inc., and the Lincoln and Therese Filene Foundation.
"Looking Ahead in Retailing"
Leading retailers and merchandisers from all over the country gathered at the Business School to celebrate Filene's 85th birthday and his nearly 50 years of leadership and influence in Boston and national department store operation.
McNair has been an authority on retail trends for 25 years. He is the author of books on marketing and formerly supervised the Business School's annual report on "Operating Results of Department and Specialty Stores."
