The varsity golf team, nine strong, leaves today on its vacation trip to the sunny South, but it will not be welcomed by Southern hospitality. The golfers are expected to lose all three of their matches.
This gloomy prediction is prompted by the fact that the Crimson has spent very little time on the fairways so far this year. Spring snows and soggy ground have kept the team inside most of the time. Moreover, their three opponents, North Carolina, Duke, and Wake Forest, are among the top teams in the East, with plenty of opportunity to practice on the southern links.
While in the South, the golf team will stay at the University of North Carolina. Matches are scheduled for Monday, at North Carolina, Tuesday, at Duke, and Thursday, at Wake Forest. Captain Bob Matson will lead the team, which includes five veterans. Coach Norm Shepard will accompany the squad.
