Dick Button captured his third straight world's figure skating championship in London last night, displaying practically perfect form in an exhibition which many observers termed "amazing."
Button piled up a total of 594.76 points out of a possible 613.2 in last night's free skating division. This, combined with Monday's compulsory figure totals, gave him a total score of 1419.47 points. Ede Kiraly of Hungary, European champion, finished second with 1344.92 points.
Judge Harry Meistrup of Denmark gave Button a perfect score on execution, the only perfect mark of the competition.
Button, a sophomore, lives in Lowell House and is a member of the Student Council.
