Russians Expect No War---Lamont

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

"Russia is going ahead with economic development as though they are not going to have a war," Cerliss Lamont '24, treasurer of the Progressive Party, said yesterday at a Young Progressives forum on "The Direction of Soviet Internal Developments."

Before a gathering of 50 people in Harvard 1, Lamont predicted that Americans are going to be surprised by the news of the peaceful purposes for which Russia will use the atom bomb. He explained that political dictatorship in the Soviet Union is only a transitional step towards a socialist democracy.

This transition, he continued, has been slowed down because "there are thresis of invasion to the Soviet Union every day."
