Many Catholics are too narrow-minded, Monsiegneur Richard P. Smith told the Harvard and Radcliffe Catholic Clubs last night. The ex-Vice-Rector of the English College in Rome spoke in Emerson D on "What is the Catholic Mind?"

These narrow-minded Catholics, he said, "believe that there can be only one Catholic attitude on any question," and that "everything done by Catholics in the past and present should be defended." Monseigneur Smith pointed out that almost all the men whom the Catholic Church has canonized were accused of heresy during their lives.

"We should remember we are all the more prepared to explore intellectual by-ways because we have infallibility in faith and morals," he concluded.
