Joe Overholser placed fourth for the Crimson in the epee competition at the NCAA Fencing Championships Friday and Saturday at Wayne University, Detroit. Joe Vera, the Eastern Intercollegiate foils champion, finished 10th in the foil matches.
The University, which did not enter in the saber competition, tied with Ohio State for 19th place. Each made 39 points.
Navy won the NCAA meet with 67 1-2 points. Tied for second place with 65 1-2 points were four teams: NYU, Rutgers, CCNY, and Columbia.
Registers 19 Points
Tom Stuart of Navy took the epee championship with 24 1-2 points; Overholser, the captain-elect of the varsity fencers, was close behind with 19 points.
Vera, who has been hampered all season by injuries, had 20 points in the foils, which was won by Robert Nielson of Columbia with 31. Vera beat Nielson when the two met last week in the intercollegiates in New York.
