From all over the nation, from Sunshine Park, from Gulfstream, and from the waiting stalls at the glue factory, the skim of the nation's horse crop will congregate in little old Rhode Island today in honor of the start of New England's earliest racing season. Lincoln Downs is the name of the track.

Early reports from that little community indicate that H. P. Hood and Deerfield Farms once again have the largest strings of ponies on hand, all straining to get a piece of those $1,400 minimum purses. No boy seems to be the most popular jockey.

Feature attraction on the "off" track is the Inaugural Handicap ($2,500) with New England's adroitest pick-pockets running second best. The three men with the crystal balls at the CRIMSON see 'em this way.
