Ivy Films Admits 'Cliffe If Deans, Council Approve

Ivy Films will accept 'Cliffe girls as members on equal status with College men if the Student Council passes the proposal to allow joint membership in clubs not paralleled at Radcliffe and if both Dean's offices approve.

Bill Alden '50, senior director of Ivy Films, said yesterday that girls will be able to become staff members and even department heads if they show proper qualifications.

As a first step toward joint membership, Ivy Films will use three or four Radcliffe girls in brief roles in Project 109, the 15 minute comedy to start production in the near future. Screen testing was completed yesterday for these parts.

Girls Pass Tests

Five girls passed the tests and will be cast as soon as Project 109's script is returned in final form. Virginia Carroll '51, Judy Jaeger '53, Marie Beth Walch '53, Ann Strang '53, and Nancy Cussack of Lasell Junior College will compete for the major female role, "the heartless girl friend."

A "beautiful blonde girl" to appear in a three-second close-up has not yet been selected, and Radcliffe candidates may still compete for the part.

Wherever possible, Radcliffe students will be used, director Leo Bersani '52 said. Only "exceptionally recommended" girls from other colleges are considered for Ivy Films roles, he added.
