Leverett's B League five overwhelmed Kirkland, 55 to 30, last night in the first of two playoffs to decide the league championship. The Bunnies will meet Dunster in the final contest early next week.
Combining accuracy and speed, Leverett moved ahead to an early 10 point lead. The Bunnies began the game using a zone defense, but switched to a man-to-man when the pace quickened. Leverett led 22 to 13 at the half.
Kirkland tried to come back as the second half opened, but a strong Leverett defense held them to only two baskets in the first eight minutes of play.
Clark Mollenhoff paced the victors with 15 points; Dave Gorman's 12 points were high for Kirkland. Mollenhoff did most of the rebound work.
