Depth Is Decisive; Trumbull Tops Adams, 34-14

Adams Inter-House swimming champions lost to Trumbull College, 34 to 14, in the Payne-Whitney pool at New Haven Saturday.

Depth paid off for the Elis, who put rested men in the water for every event. Only six men represented the Crimson, and most of these had to swim three times: the five minute rest-periods were too short for the swimmers to regain their wind.

Yale opened the meet by copping the 150-yard medley. Last year's freshman breaststroke star, Bob Schwartz, put his team five yards out front to top a fast trio of Fred Gwynne, Bob Fleischer, and Cris Coe. The Gold Coasters quickly bounced back with Mike Reinohl and Jim Dawson taking first and second in the 50-yard freestyle.

Trumbull won the 50-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle to move ahead again. Fleischer and Van Deusen tried to take the 50 breaststroke and bring the meet down to the relay, but Schwartz thwarted the Crimson's hopes.

Ted Rogers, Adams manager, and Bill Brooks, freshman mentor, coached the Gold Coast team.
