Fogg Purchases Rare Old Flemish Drawing

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Fogg Museum has recently purchased one of two remaining fragments of a lost tryptich, "The Descent from the Cross," by the Master of Flemalle, who founded the Flemish School with Jan Van Eyck around 1420.

One of the rare Flemish drawings to survive today, this acquisition is a 5 by 9 inch silverpoint study of "A Thief on the Cross" for the left-hand panel of the tryptich.
