Completed petitions from nine University organizations protesting the NROTC loyalty oath will be presented to the office of President Conant this morning.
The organizations are urging the President to add official weight of the University to the fight against two clauses which they object to in the loyalty oath.
The first provision attacked by the petitions, which bear over 2,000 names is the "stool pigeon" clause, This clause compels students to inform upon their fellows who have associated with any organizations listed as subversive by the Attorney General.
Also under attack is a demand that NROTC men report any who have been even remotely connected with objectionable organizations, such as those attending a dance sponsored by the Communist Party.
A three-man committee representing the nine organizations, which include the AVC, the HLU, the Young Republicans, and the Graduate Student Council, hope for an interview with President Conant later this week.
The Faculty of Arts and Sciences also has voiced its disapproval of the two main clauses of the oath.
