Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Playing its best game of the season, Stan Priddy's freshman hockey team defeated Yale, 6 to 5, Saturday night at the Arena.
It was a hard-fought game all the way, increasing in tempo to a furious final 45 seconds when the undermanned Yardlings held off a sustained attack by six Blue forwards.
In the first period Yale kept most of the play in the Crimson zone, but goalie Nate Corning starred in the Harvard nets, kicking out 17 Yale shots while allowing no score. Amory Hubbard, who stood out all night for the Yardlings, surprised the Elis by swooping down from the opening face-off of the second period and scoring the first goal.
Brown Scores Winner
Hubbard counted again 20 seconds later on a pass from Bitsy Grant, and scored twice more during the period on setups from Walt Greeley after the first Bulldog goal.
The third period showed fast, excellent hockey on both sides. Yale tied the score twice, but Lew Brown drove in the winning goal on a long corner shot at 15:20.
