The Annex library's checking system will go into effect April 24.

A sign-out desk will be placed at the foot of the library staircase, where a date due slip will be given each girl taking books from the library. The library staff will cover the front desk from 8:45 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Few books have been returned to the box at the front entrance marked "Return books; no questions asked," head librarian Ruth Porritt disclosed yesterday.
