Columbia Broadcasting System begins this month a series of contests aimed at college writers for original television dramas which have never been produced on the air or published.
Scripts will be submitted along with numbered entry blanks issued by the Director of CBS Awards, 15 E. 47 Street, New York 17. The competition is split into four periods, ending March 20, April 20, May 20, and June 20.
$500 Top Monthly Prize
Prizes are $500 for an hour script, $250 for a half hour drama. Only one prize will be awarded each month.
Final judges of the contest are John Steinbeck, author: Charles M. Underhill '30, program director of CBS Television Network, and Donald Davis, dramatist, screen writer, and CBS-TV producer.
CBS's official announcement of the contest said, "(We) believe that some of tomorrow's most gifted television writers may be found among the large number of college and university students of today."
