Team Regrets Losing Valpey

Most of the present and former varsity football players who were available for comment last night on Coach Art Valpey's shift to the University of Connecut felt that Valpey was a good coach caught with poor material. Neither 1949 Captain Howie Houston nor lineman Al Wilson, however, would comment on Valpey's decision.

Will Davis summed up the general player reaction saying, "I am sorry to see Art go. With the right material he would be one of the best young coaches in the country."

"It is certainly in Valpey's own best interests that he should leave this year," was the opinion of Chuck Roche.

Dike Hyde, a junior, said that he also regretted Valpey's move. "I believe the College will have a difficult time replacing Art," he added.
