Victory in its seventh meet of the season proved easier than anticipated for the varsity swimming team as it captured eight of nine events to defeat Brown, 57 to 18, last night at the Blockhouse pool. The freshmen squad opened the evening's proceedings with a 46 to 28 victory over the Bruin yearlings.
Captain Joe Fox of the varsity once again set the pace for Hal Ulen's squad by winning his specialties, the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events. His times were 23.4 and 63.8 seconds, respectively.
Not until the seventh event of the evening did the Bruins crack the Crimson monopoly on first places when Don Gray edged Rene Vielman in the 200-yard breaststroke. The winning time was 23:33.6 seconds.
The Yardling squad won six of nine events in annexing its fifth victory in six meets. The Crimson lost another first place in the last event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, when it was disqualified for missing a turn.
