Radcliffe will install a library checking system provided that the "Cedar Hill" recommendation of the measure meets the approval of the Student Council Monday, Joan Braverman '50, president of the Student Government, announced last night.
The recommendation, she said, resulted from a report of library conditions made at Monday's "Cedar Hill" policy conference by Miss Ruth Perritt, Radcliffe librarian. The figures, released by the librarian, Miss Braverman added, showed that at the beginning of Christmas vacation 185 books were missing from the library, and a mid-term check counted 95 books still unreturned.
"Week of Grace"
The move, however, if passed by the Council, will allow a "week of grace' 'in which all books could be returned with no questions asked.
An additional recommendation turned in by delegates, Miss Braverman said, will provide another "day of grace" following spring vacation for those who left library books at home during the Christmas holiday.
The conference also advised that dormitory presidents provide for a check of all books in the hall libraries in order to turn up missing books. All recommendations are intended to improve present library conditions as the taking of books can result in expulsion.
