The varsity squash and ski teams lead off Harvard's weekend competition today. Jack Barnaby's racquet men entertain Penn at 2 p.m. at Hemenway Gym; eight skiers will take part in Norwich University's Winter Carnival at Northfield, Vermont, today and tomorrow.
Favored to take its eighth win in nine intercollegiate starts, the squash team will line up with Henry and Hugh Foster, Hugh Nawn, Joe Clark, Jim Bacon, George Plimpton, Sam Hoar, Wister Wood, and Muggy Mugaseth.
Don Justice, Skiddy Lund, John Hart, Henry Horner, John Houser, Bill Wasserman, Jim Weaver, and Len Wilson will make the ski trip to Northfield.
In yesterday's squash matches, the varsity C team lost to the Lincoln's Inn Society of the Law School, 4 to 1, and the freshman C's beat the Maugus Club, 3 to 2. Both matches were played at Hemenway.
