A $1976 scholarship at Cambridge University and the use of John Harvard's old suite will again go to a College Senior or recent graduate this year, the University announced last night.
Founded in the memory of Lionel do Jersey Harvard '15, a descendant of the College's original founder, the "Studentship" is now the best-known American followship at Cambridge.
The selection committee, composed of former Studentship holders, demands a holder who can "represent Harvard and America to Cambridge students."
Since he is expected to enter the intellectual and social life of the University, "personality and character" are stressed rather than academic record. Some athletic ability and debating talent are also helpful.
Faculty members and House Masters may recommend men for the scholarship, but any student can apply directly if he states his qualifications in a letter to Dean Bender. The Dean's office will accept applications until March 1.
