Eliot, Dudley Win Court Games as Intras Get Rolling

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Ten House basketball teams saw action yesterday at the Blockhouse as winter intramurals swung into the second half of the season.

In the top game of the day, Eliot won its first league contest by upsetting second-place Adams, 33 to 29. The Elephants got away to a fast start, but Adams tied it up with 30 seconds to play. Then Ralph Robinson broke clear and put Eliot ahead and a few seconds later, Charlie Hugo tossed in the clincher.

Redmond Excels

In the other A league games, Dudley took Winthrop, 42 to 31, and Kirkland won over Leverett, 42 to 30. The Commuters' double-post attack enabled them to coast on a second-half 15 point lead. Ambrose Redmond was high scorer against the Puritans with 15 points. Dick Repnolds, with 16 points, was the outstanding man on the fast, league-leading Kirkland quintet.

Adams topped Eliot in the B league with Red MacDougall tossing in six counters. The Gold Coasters blew an early ten point lead, but managed to stay in front in the second half. The final score was 29 to 26. Winthrop and Dudley fought it out for the B league basement in a slow defensive game, with Winthrop managing to climb out of its seventh place slot on a 24 to 10 victory.
