Union Makes Pudding Alter New York Plans

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Union difficulty has forced Hasty Pudding Theatricals to abandon use of the Kaufmann Theatre for its on-the-road Christmas vacation New York run.

The Pudding's show, "Buddha Knows Best" will open December 26 at Hunter College Auditorium instead. Besides changing its location, the Pudding also will have to curtail its run to four instead of six days.

Pudding Theatricals for the past two years has operated without union labor, but this year the stagehands a and technicians demanded that the normally non-union Kaufmann be unionized for the "Buddha" production. In 1946 and '47, the Pudding used union labor on road tours.

This year's production will go on, a road tour that includes Providence and a "specialty show" at the Stork Club. The show opened in Cambridge last night.
