Princeton Takes Lambert Trophy as Eastern Champ

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Princeton's undefeated Tigers are the winners of the August V. Lambert Memorial Trophy, emblematic of eastern football supremacy, the donors of the award announced yesterday.

The men from Old Nassau beat out Army in a lost-minute voting switch of eastern sportswriters, many of whom changed their selections following Navy's victory ever the Cadets last Saturday.

Princeton becomes the second Ivy League school to win the award; Cornell gained the trophy in 1939. Army had won five times in the last six years.

Nine Teams

Nine teams were named in the balloting of 75 eastern writers, with Princeton receiving first or second on every selection. Army was named on 68 ballots, but collected only 19 first place votes, compared to Princeton's 55. Navy received one first place vote, one for second, and one for third. Behind the Middles came Lehigh, Fordham, Penn, Cornell, Trinity, and Yale.
