To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Yesterday's CRIMSON reported on a discussion between three Yard Proctors and Mr. Phillip J. McNiff concerning Lamont Library. This article requires some clarification.

As the result of a request by the Union Committee, we tried to determine some basis on which Lamont Library could extend its services. We were speaking only for ourselves and had no official status. At no time did we express a preference for the Memorial Chapel study hall, and we feel that at best it would be an inadequate substitute for Lamont itself.

We certainly hope that the matter will not be dropped here, and our report to the Union Committee suggests that they continue to study it. Howard R. Flock '54   Alan S. Manne '54   Donald T. Trautman '54
