Quintet Opens Tonight With Two Sophomores in Lineup

Height should be the deciding factor when the basketball team opens its season against M.I.T. at 8:30 p.m. tonight at the Blockhouse. Coach Norm Shepard will start two men--Captain Norm Shepard will start two men--Captain Ed Smith and Dick Lionetto--over six foot five, while the tallest first-string man on the Tech squad is Hank Hohorst at six four. The rest of the visiting squad is correspondingly small--the captain, Leon Hong, is five foot five.

Two sophomores will be in the Crimson lineup. Jim Urdan is slated to open at guard and Lionetic will be at center. The forwards will be Bob Bramhall and Smith. Bill Hickey will play the other guard position.

Shepard will probably use the same type of offense he worked against Providence College in a scrimmage this week. Lionette will operate an the pivot man from the celler's usual position. Smith will follow the progress of the ball from the outside, moving in for rebounds. The two will probably switch after a while.

Defense will be based upon the man-to-man system with liberal switching. Shepard prefers the straight man-to-man, but thinks it is a little too early for his team to start using it.

Jim Gabier, John Stevensen, Forrest Bansen, and Ambio Redmend will probably got into action against the inexperienced Tech team.

Probable starting lineups: HARVARD    M.I.T. Bramball  f  Glaniz Smith (C)  f  Hong(C) Lionette  c  Hohorst Urdan  g  Nacey Hickey  g  Garthe
