Lysistratea Explained

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Articles appearing in the Boston papers and CRIMSON have caused a misconception to arise as to the circumstances surrounding the selection of Lysistratea for full production. In conformity with the unusual custom it was submitted to the Dean's Office for approval, Dean Small read and approved the play. She did, however, doubt the wisdom of attempting to produce it for the following reasons:

1) The Agassiz Theater is too informal for a production of this type.

2) Lysistrata requires a larger cast than Idler has been in the habit of using. Dean Small doubted whether sufficient talent was available to select a cast capable of giving a satisfactory performance.

She conferred with our director, Nerman Ashten, and the members of the Idler Board, and granted permission to produce because she disapproves of censorship in the theater. The question was whether Idler was capable of producing it satisfactorily. Irono O'Nell, Chariman, Idler Players
