Jayvee Gridders Entertain Springfield This Afternoon

Springfield's jayvee football team will rely strongly on a passing attack in its game with the Crimson on the freshman field at 2 p.m. today. Aerials have netted four of Springfield's five touchdowns this season, and from past performance quarterback Ernie Degutis can be counted on to throw from anywhere on the field in today's game.

The Crimson will field the same team it did against Dartmouth, with one exception-Bill Sawyer will start at right end in place of Art Rohn. Rohn has moved up to the varsity along with Art Pappas, who did most of the team's kicking.

The Maroon and White, which works from an unbalanced T, has a one and two record thus far. It beat Nichols Junior College, lost to Mount Hermon, and last week held Brandeis to a 6-6 tie until late in the game, but lost, 18 to 6.

Brandeis beat the Crimson freshmen, who clearly outclass the jayvees, 21-13. Springfield's running attack is spearheaded by halfbacks Bob Emerson and Mickey Howe. Ends Fran Sweeney and Bill Anderson have been frequent targets for Degutis, and much of the Crimson's success will depend on bottling up these four.
